Local Student Philip Ramirez Receives National Scholar Award

Cathedral City, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/July 21, 2003 ---

Philip Ramirez, 2003 graduate of Palm Springs High School, has been selected to receive a $1,000 National Scholar Award from The National Society of High School Scholars.

The Society inducts outstanding high school students and honors them for superior academic achievement. Philip was selected for the award from among 15,000 applicants. He will be attending The University of California at Berkeley in the fall.

The final scholarship selections are based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and recommendations from school personnel. The Society awards four $5,000 scholarships to members annually - two in the fall and two in the spring. There were also fourteen $1,000 National Scholar Awards announced this year.

Claes Nobel, honorary chairman of the Society, stated, "I am deeply honored to recognize Philip as one of the nation's most outstanding students."
