Local Student Rebekah Hurt Receives Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship

Dallas/EWORLDWIRE/July 21, 2003 ---

Rebekah Hurt, 2003 graduate of the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science, has been selected to receive one of two $5,000 Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships awarded by The National Society of High School Scholars for spring 2003.

The Society inducts outstanding high school students and honors them for superior academic achievement. Rebekah was selected for the award from among 15,000 applicants. Rebekah will be attending Southern Methodist University in the fall.

The final scholarship selections are based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and recommendations from school personnel. The Society awards four $5,000 scholarships to members annually - two in the fall and two in the spring. There were also fourteen $1,000 National Scholar Awards announced this year.

Claes Nobel, honorary chairman of the Society, said, "I am deeply honored to recognize Rebekah as one of the nation's most outstanding students."

As senior member of the Nobel Prize family, Claes Nobel extends his family's dedication to excellence to the youth of today.
